Prayers for our friend John Kugler

I have been known to take some photos over the years.... :-)

When I heard John is at our Lady of Lourdes in Camden recovering from a fall it got me to thinking about him and of all the times I've seen, worked, and eaten with him over the years and decided to see what a google photos search would pull up.

So many memories...not just of John, but other Association friends as well. Quite the collection!

Here is what I found- John Kugler Gets Around  (It's a google photos album of mine now).

I remember Gladys Scanlan

Gladys Scanlan was a 3rd grade teacher at Millbridge when I started working there in September, 1971. She was one of the first people I met. She was sweet and kind and caring. Did you know her too? I'm so sorry I lost touch with her. I just found her obituary and I am very sad. I remember her fondly.

Back in the swing of things!

It was just like old times, but with a lot of catching up to do.

Lunch at Dooney's Pub on August 7th turned out to be during Burlington's Restaurant Week. Fun!

Hope you can join us next time. The September date is set for Thursday, September 11th at 12:30.

Here we are enjoying the day:

Hard to believe summer will be over and school will be back in session by the time  we meet again. Time sure goes fast these days!

Finally!

It's been a long time since last we met. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing what's been going on with you the months since then.

It's been awhile....!

Just checking in after a long lapse in posting. First catch up item would be noting that there was a lunch on Dec. 16th and here are photos to document that:

Since then a new year- 2025- started and currently we are more than halfway through it.

I hope we can set a date to get together this summer or early in the fall and catch up with what's been going on with our Delran colleagues and other friends.

Lots of memories of lunches gone by

We had fun at lunch today at Dooney's.  (Missed you, Judy Harrington -hope all is going well with the house repairs; Hazel Solomon- bring us apple cake next time? :-); Ginny Morales; Doreen Lawrence,  and all who couldn't make it. )

Good to see Marian Weber between travel dates and Joyce Gutelius with a longer drop in than usual ...on her way to lunch with her husband. I had some check-ins. Marge Chodikoff, Roe Jankowski, Paul Ordog...always a pleasure to hear from outliers. :-)

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Cheers!

Election and Convention

This was the first year in a long time that I didn't work the polls before heading down to Atlantic City for the NJREA convention.

When I woke up the next morning and headed to the general meeting,  the overall feeling in the room was one of concern about the future of our country.

Condolences and memories

I learned today that John Sacca, husband of our Peg Sacca, passed away on August 19th. I am so sad to hear this news. My condolences to Peg and all the family. May he rest in peace.

In looking for some information about Delran I clicked on what I thought was the current DEA website. I was surprised to come across an article from 2014 about the retirement breakfast. Memories...

Our next DEAR lunch is scheduled for Thursday, November 14th at Dooney's Pub, Delran at 12:30. I hope to see you there if you are in the area.

News and photos

For the annual Retired Association renewal or joining -the form for 2024-2025

So many old DEA photos to peruse I've just come across these nostalgic photos on my computer and I put them in a google photos album to share with you. There are a lot, but you can scan through them at your leisure. I'll bet you find, if not you, at least five people and/or situations you remember fondly from years ago....
Let me know what you think....and feel free to download ones that mean something to you and to share.

Summertime and the Living is Easy

Our July 11 lunch was fun.

Around the table: Tom Sallee, Roberta Sallee, Judy Harrington, Kathy Rossell, Marcia Konieczka, Jean Lombardi, Joyce Gutelius, Rosina Anthony, Jimmy Anthony

It was good having Joyce Gutelius and Kathy Rossell join us. We really missed Bruce and Rosemary Smith but hope their cruise is going well.

The big surprise was when my former student (class of '87) Wendy Pfeffer came over to say hi. She looks great!

Our next lunch is scheduled for August 15th. All are welcome!

Think about sharing photos and updating us about how you are and what you've been up to. :-)

Happy Spring!

Bruce's (last?) Moorestown Community Concert was last night.

He introduced the new conductor, a Mt. Laurel teacher named Michelle Gergich.

A (very talented student) guest conductor led the musicians in playing his original piece.

Some people you may recognize were photographed during intermission:

It's Been Awhile...

Hazel Solomon wrote with sad news.

I just got a call that my dear friend, Mary Anninos passed away on Fri. She had a really difficult year, having lost her husband Pete several months ago, & then dealing with Covid & pneumonia. She got through it all & was doing ok., but had a fall that took her from us.  She will be missed terribly.
Can you please post this to your Delran blog?  Thanks

You may remember I posted a few months ago when her husband Pete passed away.

Pete and Mary
Mary was a Millbridge teacher and Delran parent. I know those of us who knew and worked with her have good memories and remember her fondly.

May she rest in peace.

FYI
Frank Pilvalis is recovering from his triple bypass heart surgery.

I recently heard from Anne Louise Taylor, another former Delran teacher (and mother of John Taylor, who was in my first fifth grade class!)

Have you seen/heard from any of our former colleagues lately?

I am hoping our DEAR group will get together again once tax season is over.
Here are some photos from our last lunch at Dooney's....in January 2024.

Monday, December 25, 2023

Hope everyone has been enjoying a happy and healthy holiday season.

I look forward to starting up our monthly lunches again in 2024. Meanwhile, some fifth grade retirees got together for breakfast on Christmas Eve morning. Recognize anyone?

Take care and be well! Happy New Year!
